This involves a number of administrative requirements that should not be overlooked. To enter Laos, you need a valid visa. It is now possible to apply for an electronic visa, also known as an e-Visa. <em>How do I get one? How quick is it to obtain an e-Visa?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Applying for an e-Visa online<\/h2>\n<p>A visa is therefore required to enter Laos. But for some months now, it has no longer been necessary to go to an embassy to apply for a visa. This is because <strong>the Laotian authorities have set up a special portal for electronic visa applications or e-Visa in July 2019<\/strong>. This makes the process much easier and saves you having to go to an embassy in your home country (most embassies in France are in Paris, for example). Once you're on the site, you need to fill in the form provided. Fill it in carefully and don't leave out any fields. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The slightest error on the form could lead to your application being rejected or delayed.<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The form includes a few questions about your personal details, such as your surname and first name, and your professional details (your occupation). As the form is in English, some people may have difficulty filling it in. There are specialised agencies that can help you fill in your application without any hassle. The agency is responsible for submitting your application to the Laotian authorities and then sending you your e-Visa by e-mail once the application has been registered and validated. The agency acts as an intermediary between you and the Laotian authorities.<\/p>\n<h2>Deadlines for obtaining<\/h2>\n<p>Filling in your application is quick and easy, whether you do it yourself or use a specialist agency. In just a few minutes, your application will be sent and registered. To obtain your e-Visa, it takes around 3 working days from receipt of your application. You will receive an approval letter to print out and present on the day of your departure.<\/p>\n<p>Once you arrive in Laos, your e-Visa will be affixed directly to your passport on presentation of this letter. Once your e-Visa has been issued, <strong>you must enter Laos with authorisation within 60 days and is valid for 30 days.
