From Laos to Burma

Are you planning a trip to Asia, and more specifically to Laos? But you can't make up your mind and would like to see other countries. It's possible to combine a trip to Laos with a trip to Myanmar, in Burma, for example. You'll have the chance to discover these two South-East Asian countries, which are considered more "confidential" and authentic than their neighbours.

Preparing your trip

Preparing for a trip like this is not something you can do lightly, so you need to be extremely well organised to ensure that you leave with complete peace of mind and enjoy an extraordinary journey. This starts with booking your flight. Travel blogs and bloggers recommend early booking. This ensures that you leave on the dates you want, and that you can take advantage of attractive fares and sometimes exceptional promotions!

A word of advice: don't hesitate to use the flight comparison services on the Internet!

Whether you go to Laos or Burma, you must apply for a visa. You should apply for an e-Visa, which is quicker and more convenient to obtain, and opt for the 28-day tourist visa. If you have a visa for Laos and then wish to enter Burma, you are exempt from the visa requirement for a maximum of 14 days. So you don't need to apply for two different visas! To be valid, passage from one country to the other must be by land.

Try to pack a suitcase that's not too heavy and fill it with light, comfortable cotton or linen clothes. Pack a good pair of walking shoes, as well as flip-flops. What's in it for you? If you want to take advantage of your stay to visit temples, you should know that it is compulsory to remove your shoes and socks before entering the temple. Wearing flip-flops is much more practical and saves you time!

The must-sees in both destinations

Both countries have many wonders and destinations not to be missed, such as Luang Prabang in Laos. The former royal city is still the spiritual heart of the country, with a wealth of temples, each more beautiful than the last.

You can also sail along the Mekong, the river at the heart of the lives of the people of Laos.

Burma is no exception, with some of the most idyllic scenery in the region. Take a trip to Yangon, the country's former capital, and admire its bustling streets! If you prefer peace and quiet, then don't miss Lake Inle, in the centre of Burma. This immense river is famous for its fishermen and for the daily lives of the locals, who spend most of their time on the water. It's a great way to see how they organise their lives between bartering and sailing!

You can also visit Bagan, whose remains rival each other in beauty and are all in the category of must-sees on the Asian continent.
